april vacation

Well, it's April vacation up here in Massachusetts.  For me, it means I can spend time tackling projects that are usually neglected while at the same time procrastinating on routine housework (the laundry pile isn't getting any smaller!)

First, I polished my silver candlesticks.

Next up was my first sewing project!  My husband bought me a sewing machine for my birthday this year.  I have been super excited to use it.

I will not tell you what my project was because it's a surprise for someone who may or may not follow my blog.  But I'll tease you with a photo and post the full project later.

Next, I tackled my closet.  No joke it was a mountain of shoes.  I do not have a before picture, but here is my after shot.

When my hubby found out, he gave me a big THANK YOU.  God it feels good to be appreciated.  Even if I didn't do any laundry. :)

I fell in LOVE with Rachel's red dress from this week's OMJ episode of Glee.  I've been searching ever since.  Luckily, I found it.  Now I can sleep tonight.

I also found a similar version that is much more teacher-budget friendly.

what would emma pillsbury wear?

As an elementary school teacher, being a role model is part of my job description.  Fifth grade girls pay attention to fashion and are highly influenced by television and their peers.  So every morning, when I'm deciding what to wear, I ask myself the same questions.  Is this too short?  Too tight?  Too low cut?  I wear a tank under everything.

But I also want to look good.  I, too, am interested in fashion (duh, who isn't?)

That's where Emma Pillsbury comes in.  She sends the message that women (and girls) can be fashionable yet conservative.  So now when I enter my closet, I ask myself just one question: what would Emma Pillsbury wear?

When I need new ideas, I turn to wwepw, a website dedicated to Emma Pillsbury fashion and the inspiration for this post.  It contains lots of pics, plus ideas to get Emma's look on a budget.  For that, my wallet thanks you.
